and Stefano have been hard at
work on the Sp Lavender in
Tuscany. Why do we put such
effort into the lavender?
Lavender and eczema
Lavender Oil is so important to
us because therapists use
Lavender Oil 1% as the first line
of treatment for eczema.
Lavender water too is important
in eczema treatment particularly
if a patch test reveals skin
sensitivity to the oil. Then the
distilled water or hydrolat can be
used.
Therapists use eczema cream
applied morning and night. This
also contains Allantoin which is
excellent for skin repair.
The oils we recommend for
eczema can be used with our
silky bath base for the bath and
our white vegetable lotion for
massage.

many years to establish.
Aromatherapy requires the
efforts of hundreds of suppliers
to end up with the oils in their
little bottles.
Keeping track of the technical
information is a vital part of the
business. All our oil purchases
and sales are reviewed by Soil
Association Inspectors as part of
the accreditation process. We
specialise in organic oils.

Our policy is to use packaging
suppliers local to the Hinckley
area.
With over a thousand products
graphic design of the labels is
quite a challenge and we use a
nuber of designers and artists.
Digital labels are economic for
short runs of 1000 per item and
we commission 100,000 labels
runs from our litho printer.
Leaflets and posters also have
to be of the highest standards of
graphic design
Our cardboard boxes are
designed to transport 12x 100ml
bottles conveniently and safely.
We also have convenient
transport/shelf display units for
the 10ml and 15ml oils in their
individual barcoded boxes,

| Permanent notes Exhibitions Its great for I and the staff to get out for exhibitions and give our live demonstrations This year we have attended Birmingham NEC and Edinburgh Highland Centre Talking through the oils face to face with our customers and I wish I could do it all the time! Trade Associations We are active in IFPA, the FHT, Soil Association and ATC. We are committed to the highest professional standards. Visits I get away each quarter to visit customers, distributors and train myself. I am looking forward to Robert Tisserand's seminar in Miami in October. See you there! I visited Italy in February to meet a customer in Rome and the growers. I had a great visit to the distributors Beijing, Seoul and Shanghai in June. Lots of aromatherapy progress out there Staff The Shirley Price Aromatherapy college is led by Sara Gelzer MIFPA (distance learning) and Jan Benham MIFPA (aromatherapy diploma) both have tutored for Shirley Price Aromatherapy for many years. Many of the College alumni are authors, tutors, practicioners, and its great that they return to teach and support the college and company. Factory staff You know Gill (customer service T:01455615466) Rosie (college secretary T:01455615436) Kelly (operations) Sue and Chloe (in the lab) George Brealey (technical manager). You have also met my daughter Tiggy Brealey at exhibitions. Making and supplying 10,000 items a month is a great challenge. I am very proud of our young and enthusiastic team. Directors Since our acquisition of the company in July 2009 the directors have been PI Brealey BSC FCA, Dr MS Jaspal MB BS Mrs R Jaspal. We have great faith in the company, its customers, suppliers and staff. Former staff Too many to mention but a special mention for those I have known and best of luck in your endeavours and retirements. Former owners Shirley Price Aromatherapy passed into the hands of professional investors and became part of a venture capital backed group in 1998. From 2001-9 Sp was owned by an Iranian investor. Who founded the Company? Shirley Price. She built the company to 30 employees. In 1998 she retired and sold the company, her product recipes, training college and trademarks including Shirley Price Aromatherapy. We wish her well in her retirement. Now aged 80 she is still active seeing her friends and an advertisement for the vitality of her products. Is Shirley Price herself involved? No she is retired but her daughter Penny Stevens has her own aromatherapy business in Hinckley and son Matthew Price a publishing business. Matthew continues to publish the IFPA magazine 'In Essence'. Will you change the name of the company? After 37 years its a bit late now! The product recipes are Shirley Price's own and have brought relief from common ailments to hundreds of thousands of people. Many people worldwide just call the company Sp after the Sp leaf and use the Lothian Herbs and Essentia brand products too.
